Arvonne Fraser's class

Las wedensday, we were given a great lecture by Arvonne Fraser. The lecture mainly talks about the women rights and the movment of women the United States. Arvonne talked about her expericane for many years with helping women to get their rights by starting many organaizations. She had a great carrer and she did a lot for women. Although she has six children, she was able to make a balance between her carrer and her family life. In addition, she worked in many high postions. Arvonne let us ask questions and she had good responses to all of the student questions after the lecture. It was intersting to me when she confidently said that she believs that one day a woman might be the president of the United States, and we almost there.

Two days later , we had a class with Lynne because our teacher Alyessa went to a conference in Denver. At the very beging of the class, we interduced ourselves by telling our names, where we come from and what is our best cities. Arvonne said that she is a retired ESL teacher but she come to teach sometimes because she loves teaching ESL students, which was intersting to me.

After interducing ourselves, we disscused in groups the Lecture, each one mantioned what did s/he like about the lecture. It was intersting to hear others opinion. After that, we took a quiz about the same lecture.

At the end of the class, Lynne said that she enjoyed bieng with us and we thanked her for spending some time with us.

Women, Education, and Development

Hello ! guess what? yesterday i had a big lecture in Rapson hall about women and education. it was difficult note-taking lecture because our speaker tried to focus on many points and jumped back and forth on those issues. any way our lecturer, Arvonne Fraser, was great; she is a patient woman who dedicate her life to creating equal right for women around the world. she began her lecture with interesting information that she has gained through her career in the U.N. she pointed out that there are 10 critical issues on women development. one good example that she gave us was a violence against women in 1995. she talked about many conventions that occurred in U.N, including the theme "equality, employment, and peace." she asserted that educated women have fewer children. to conclude her lecture, i think she still believe that there is a gap between men and women, many women are still facing illiterate.

hello very body! i really hope you know Bill Gate the richest man in the world. in this audio, it is about his charity, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates talked about the background of his foundation and the problem facing philanthropy. his friend, Warren Buffett, supported him to do a charity organization to help the poor. he was proud to be able to share his fortune with famine. He mentioned about AIDS and polio that are spreading in these day, so we need to help solving these issues. unfortunately, the currently financial crisis affects his ability to donate money for philanthropy. as well as his company, over 1,000 employee were laid off. so that financial factor might decline his budget of philanthropy next year.

2008 big buzzward in giving:micro

I just listened to the article about small donation, the audio like as following:

the guest is a philanthropy consultant Lucy Bernholz. The moderator is Kai Ryssdal.

they talked about trends afoot which designed to keep donation flowing. Under this tough economic times, some technique made donation easy and work well. In 2008, the buzzword expressed the ways of giving; micro philanthropy which is to chop big chunk money into small to assist self-sustaining entrepreneur; mobile gifting which is to donate small amount of money just by using mobile phone text message; good gifting which is small gift targeting to their favorite charity and satisfying the donator's charitable impulses.

I believe even in the downtime there are peoples want to help; the business market or charity make these good willing happen, this is the wonderful thing we can thanks the humanity and kindness.

different things such as food, clothes and furniture. It’s located on many different states. The
reporter states that even though the economic is suffering “Wal-Mart” is still doing well and earning a lot of money. He said that one of the most important reasons is advertising because they spend about 300 million on advertising which is a small number comparing with what they are earning. Moreover, they sell tons of food and their prices are cheap. “Wal-Mart has been one bright spot”.

what is a green job

I just listened to a radio program names 'what kind of green jobs will stimulus spawn', the URL as below: http://www.npr.org/templates/player/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=100497752&m=100497716

New president promised bring new job opportunity to this country, revitalize the society. Some new idea? maybe this green job have be defined in a new way, or it is a new persepective.

The clip mentioned new energy technology like wind turbulence project which will creat jobs dispersing in whole energy produce, transmission and operation life cycle.

this definitely will bring some green consumer component into society. but I like the idea that weatherizing house which will save energy by wasting and consuming, and there is a huge market there waiting for money to put in to start.

I am very glad that information technology also counter in this evolution to improve efficience, even it would cause eliminating some traditional job. but we can really put money on the needs, and create better productivity.
